Queen of Cups

A Queen sits on her throne regarding her Cup. She faces to our left, which hints at regarding the past. She is at the edge of the water. In the distance is a cliff; there is green vegetation on it. The back of her throne has the shape of a seashell. There appear to be some sort of child-like being carved into the throne. On the side of her throne we see another child-like being, this time with wings. Probably this is a representation of a cherub.

Unlike all the other Cups in this suit, the Queen’s Cup is covered. We see two winged creatures facing each other across the cover. This is clearly meant to represent the cherubim atop the Ark of the Covenant, as described in Exodus 25:18-20:

And thou shalt make two cherubims [sic] of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

Covering the Cup suggests secrets or hidden matters. This could refer to the Unconscious; but it might also refer to hidden teachings. The Ark of the Covenant was the place where the Presence of God dwelt – called the Shekhina. This is a feminine attribute of God.
